Professor

UK Centre Director

For more than 20 years, Prof. Li has been working towards a new generation smart engineering computing platform, underpinned by High Performance Computing (HPC & Cloud Computing), inter-linked domain knowledge (Ontology Modelling), Artificial Intelligence algorithms and BIM (Building Information Modelling) based standardization across sectors throughout project life cycle, to support large scale engineering data / information / knowledge processing, smart engineering optimization and holistic decision making to help to achieve sustainable and resilient built environment.

Research Associate

Development

Tom is a software engineer with a background in computational mechanics and civil engineering. He has worked with LUSAS for 6 years producing code for use in their finite element software.

He is responsible for leading the software development team in the creation of the X-Ray engine for automatic template generation and BIM compliance checking.

Research Associate

Development

Alex Bradley is a PhD student and Research Associate working in BIMSE. His main research domain includes the information exchange in infrastructure BIM project management; ontology-based knowledge representation and IFC standards development in the maritime sector.

Research Associate

Information exchange

Dr Guoqian was a former architect working in ECADI, Shanghai and now he is working on BIM-related research. His main research domain includes the information exchange at project and procurement level; ontology-based knowledge representation and development and now trying to implement the data processing method in the smart city-related domain.

He is now responsible for BIM project management, organising training and workshops in BIMSE and contribute to the BIM standard.

PhD Researcher

Blockchain

Steve's research involves the development of the BIMchain platform.  BIMchain leverages Blockchain for use in Digital Construction.  He is focusing on using Blockchain for Model Version Control and Supply Chain Management.  He is also carrying out research involving Machine Learning, Cloud Computing and the Internet of Things. Steve is also a lecturer in Computer Science.

PhD Researcher

Machine learning

Sisi's work is about BIM based machine learning engine for energy efficiency. She proposes a BIM based research approach to provide data and information to train relevant machine learning engines. A knowledge-base toolkit will be built for the decision-making process.

PhD Researcher

Construction safety

Shang Gao was graduated in Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Her main research domain includes the information management for construction safety; ontology-based knowledge representation and development.

PhD Researcher

Construction processes with BIM

Dr Jaliya is from a Civil Engineering background, and has worked with Ferrovial Agroman who sponsored his PhD research. He worked with the Dawnus Ferrovial Agroman Joint Venture on the Eastern Bay Link in Cardiff and oversaw the implementation of BIM on the project.

PhD Researcher

BIM integeration

KHUDHAIR Ali is structural engineering. He joined BIMSE in Cardiff University.

His research interest is on the integration between architecture design and structure design & analysis and he is currently doing BIM-related research based on this.

PhD Researcher

Infrastructure

A motivated Chartered Civil Engineer with an extensive background in infrastructure design and planning. Researching Building Information Management (BIM) and creating a paradigm shift in data interrogation for Highway intervention measures for the Welsh Government.
